Gary Walters is a true quadruple threat.

As a pianist, he has spent decades performing on his own and with a variety of other musicians across a wide range of genres. In addition to solo appearances, he is part of Grammy winner Carrie Newcomer's recording and touring band, playing dates across the United States. In the Indianapolis area, he continues to perform with the eclectic Icarus Ensemble, as a freelance artist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and others, and on solo dates.

As an educator, Gary has served as an adjunct faculty member of Butler University's School of Music for over a decade, where he directs several jazz ensembles, in addition to private instruction.

As a composer and arranger, he also has a wealth of experience working on his own projects and those of other artists.

Then there's Gary Walters, the recording artist. In addition to Gary's newest solo release, Moments in Time, which you'll find featured on this site under Recordings, his experience in the studio encompasses a variety of recording projects for himself and for other artists, including work on a number of Carrie Newcomer's albums. He is co-founder and past president of the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation.

We hope this site helps you get to know Gary and his music better. Enjoy.
